Quick answer

TipMe - Employee Tip Tracking by Michael Chu is a free iPhone and iPad tip log that has been on the App Store since 2016. It records daily earnings, keeps cash and credit card tips apart, tracks deductions for other members of the crew, and exports by month and by year for tax records. Two things shape the rest of this page: it was last updated in August 2019, and it sells three separate unlocks, none of which states a billing period.

Server44 is our free tip tracker for iPhone, iPad and Android. It logs cash and card tips separately, automates tip-outs from templates, and turns your hours and hourly wage into a true hourly rate and an estimated net income after federal and state tax.

If you want a small, quiet app that syncs across your own iPhones, TipMe - Employee Tip Tracking. Want the tip-out math, several jobs and a tax estimate instead? Server44.

Where TipMe - Employee Tip Tracking wins

Three unlocks, none with a stated billing period. All three of its in-app purchases read as one-time unlocks: Unlimited Entries at $9.99, Unlock All Features at $14.99 and Ad Removal at $9.99. Nothing in the listing names a subscription period. Server44 PRO is an annual plan, so anyone who has decided they are done renewing tip apps will prefer TipMe’s shape.

It syncs your tips across your own iPhones. Version 1.2.0, released in August 2019, added automatic database syncing between iOS devices through iCloud, with the same iTunes account required on both. Server44’s listing says tip data stays on your phone and says nothing about backup, sync or restore in either direction. If moving your log from an old iPhone to a new one matters, TipMe states an answer and Server44 does not.

It runs on old hardware and it is small. The listing shows a minimum of iOS 8.0 and a download size of 14.8 MB. Server44 needs iOS 15.0 and is 64.1 MB. On a hand-me-down iPhone that has stopped taking updates, TipMe is the one that installs.

Three small things the listing spells out that ours does not. It autosaves even if the app or the phone shuts down, it has a user guide built into the app, and it supports both landscape and portrait. Server44’s description mentions none of those. The reviews are old and the sample is small, but some reviewers mention the same thing about the app: it is simple and quick to enter.

Where Server44 wins

It answers what the shift was actually worth. You set hours worked and an hourly wage per shift, log cash and card tips separately, take the tip-out off the top, and see your true hourly rate and an estimated net income with federal and state tax calculations. TipMe’s listing states none of that. It stores the numbers; its listing does not say it works out what they add up to after the busser and the IRS. One TipMe reviewer wanted hours tracking so they would know what their check should look like.

Server44 handles more than one job. You can create jobs and switch between them with a tap, give each its own wage, settings and tip-out rules, and archive the ones you have left, with PRO removing the job limit. Multiple jobs are not stated on TipMe’s listing, and one of its reviewers asked to be able to tell two jobs apart.

It is still being worked on, in more places. Server44’s last update was August 2026, which added daily sales logging and the option to set a tip-out as a percent of sales. TipMe’s last update was August 2019. Server44 also runs on Android as Tip Tracker + Pay: Server44, lists 39 languages against TipMe’s one, and exports to PDF, CSV or a plain text summary where TipMe’s export format is not stated. Its store page also carries a privacy label; TipMe’s shows “No Details Provided”, which Apple explains as a label the developer supplies at the next update.

Pricing

  • Server44 is free to download, with no account. Server44 PRO adds unlimited jobs, 90-day and 365-day insight windows, an ad-free experience and all future updates, after a 7-day free trial. It is $2.99 a week or $29.99 a year, with a one-time $19.99 introductory offer.
  • TipMe - Employee Tip Tracking is a free download, and its description never mentions purchases at all. The store page lists Unlimited Entries at $9.99, Ad Removal at $9.99 and Unlock All Features at $14.99. What Unlock All Features adds is not spelled out on the store page.

Over a year, Server44 PRO costs $29.99, or $19.99 on its one-time introductory offer. On TipMe you would pay $14.99 for Unlock All Features, or $19.98 for the two named unlocks bought separately, and no billing period is stated for any of the three.

Which one should you pick?

Pick TipMe - Employee Tip Tracking if you want a plain daily tip log whose three unlocks state no billing period, you want your entries synced between your own iPhones through iCloud, or you are running an older iPhone that Server44’s iOS 15 minimum rules out. Read its store page with the August 2019 update date in mind and decide for yourself.

Pick Server44 if you work more than one job, split tips out to a crew every night, or want the shift to end in a true hourly rate and an estimated take-home instead of a raw total, and if you need the same tracker on Android.

If you would rather not install anything tonight, our free tip-out calculator and tips per hour calculator run in the browser and cover the two numbers most servers check after a shift.

Frequently asked questions

Is TipMe - Employee Tip Tracking still being updated?

Its last App Store update was version 1.2.1 in August 2019. The listing is still live and still shows a minimum of iOS 8.0, and nothing on the store page says how it behaves on current iOS. Server44's last update was version 1.0.10 in August 2026.

Is TipMe - Employee Tip Tracking free?

It is a free download. The description never mentions in-app purchases, but the store page lists three: Unlimited Entries at $9.99, Unlock All Features at $14.99 and Ad Removal at $9.99. Some reviewers describe logging stopping until you pay, and they disagree about when, so the free cap cannot be stated. Server44 is free to download, with an annual PRO tier at $29.99 and a 7-day free trial.

Does TipMe - Employee Tip Tracking estimate taxes on tips?

No tax estimate is stated on the listing. The description offers exports by month and by year for tax records, which is a record, not a calculation. Server44's description states estimated net income with federal and state tax calculations.

Can TipMe - Employee Tip Tracking track more than one job?

Multiple jobs are not stated anywhere on the listing, and one reviewer asks for the ability to tell two jobs apart. Server44 lets you create and switch between jobs, each with its own wage, settings and tip-out rules, and PRO makes the number of jobs unlimited.

Does TipMe - Employee Tip Tracking back up or sync my tips?

Yes. Version 1.2.0 in August 2019 added automatic database syncing between iOS devices through iCloud, and the release note says the same iTunes account is required on both devices. Server44's listing states that data stays on your phone with no account, and says nothing either way about backup or sync.

Is TipMe - Employee Tip Tracking on Android?

No Google Play listing was found for it, so it is iPhone and iPad only. Server44 is on the App Store and on Google Play, where it is titled Tip Tracker + Pay: Server44.
